Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Physiotherapy

Reduce compression and improve function through expert care

There are three main types of thoracic outlet syndrome – neurogenic, venous and arterial. Neurogenic is the most common and involves nerve compression. Symptoms may include pins and needles, aching, weakness or postural discomfort. We assess your movement patterns, posture and muscle imbalances to design a targeted plan for relief and recovery.

Physiotherapy treatment for thoracic outlet syndrome may include:

  • Postural retraining and ergonomic advice
  • Soft tissue release and stretching
  • Thoracic and cervical spine mobility work
  • Nerve gliding and desensitisation exercises
  • Shoulder and scapular strengthening
  • Breathing technique retraining
  • Education on symptom triggers and positioning
  • Activity and load management planning

Relief from arm, neck and shoulder discomfort

TOS can cause symptoms with activities like overhead reaching, prolonged sitting or carrying heavy bags. You may notice pain or fatigue in one side of your body, or experience numbness during sleep or while working. We help identify movements that aggravate your symptoms and provide strategies to manage them confidently.
Whether your condition is related to poor posture, repetitive strain, an anatomical variation or previous injury, our goal is to restore comfort and support your everyday movement.

Support for recovery and long term health

Our physiotherapy approach is not only about short term symptom relief, but also about building long term resilience. We help you understand your condition, improve body awareness and develop strength and flexibility that supports your lifestyle.

If you suspect thoracic outlet syndrome or are experiencing symptoms that have not been clearly diagnosed, contact our team. We are here to guide you through your options and help you take the next step forward.
